Active Through Football is a Sport England-funded programme, delivered by the Football Foundation, aimed at increasing movement and promoting long-term behaviour change through Physical Activity. Using the place-based approach, we have worked with several community groups since 2022 to co-design the perfect range of activities for their communities. As physical activity increases, the programme has supported these groups in generating further funding for sustainability. The programme has provided access to courses which can help train these communities in life skills and even employment opportunities.
Our Community Groups
London Cycling Club and Londra Walk and Talk
London Cycling Club is a non-profit, Edmonton-based cycling organisation dedicated to promoting cycling within the local community. We operate two bike hubs in Enfield: Pymmes Park and Oakwood Park. Our club offers cycle training, bike repair workshops, organised rides, bike borrowing schemes, and wellbeing activities, with a particular focus on engaging hard to reach communities.
Additionally, our club has established "Londra Walk and Talk," a new women's only group focused on providing physical activities and events, primarily targeting the Turkish/Kurdish-speaking community.
With the support of Active Enfield's ATF, our club aims to remove barriers and tackle health inequalities. We provide opportunities for Turkish / Kurdish speaking women to participate in more physical activities, leading to healthier and happier lives.
We offer our participants a variety of sessions, including:
- Cycling
- Walk & Talk
- Yoga
- Outdoor Fitness
- Volleyball
We also organise health events once a month.
